PS… Antonio, It was nice to see you :)

Mixed Martial Arts or MMA for short was first introduced to the US in 1993 through the
Ultimate Fighting Championship. Since then it has been down a long road of ups and downs, but was kept alive through the hardcore fans on the internet. To start MMA went through heated political debate, headed by Arizona Senator John McCain. Stating numerous arguments against the sport, forcing it from major pay-per-view carriers, and convincing many states to ban MMA. After the acquiring a new set of rules MMA slowly came back to PPV’s and began too become more mainstream.

When watching MMA you will see fighters use various martial art styles, such as boxing, muay thai, karate, kung fu, wrestling, Brazilian jujitsu, and judo. MMA has evolved from style vs. style fights, to fighters using multiple styles at once. MMA has evolved into a sport favoring multi talented fighters using a wide range of skills.

MMA is the fastest growing sport in the world! There are a multitude of Mixed Martial Arts organizations. Starting with the Ultimate Fighting Championship. To the WEC, KOTC, Hero’s, Bodogfights, Elite XC, and Affliction.

Superstar fighters are even now emerging. Names such as Chuck “The Ice Man” Liddell, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, Forrest Griffin, Randy “The Natural” Couture, and the list goes on. All of these fighters have found fame and fortune form the sport of MMA.

After all of the controversy MMA is now publicly televised, expanding the sport by the minute. MMA can be seen on the VS Network, Spike TV, and even on CBS. MMA can only get bigger in the opinions of its followers, but if one thing is for sure, MMA has a bright future ahead of it!
