There was a lot of buzz from MMA Fans after UFC 116. A square match between Shane Carwin and Brock lesnar, ended with a TAP-OUT from Shane Carwin in the second round. Personally I couldn’t believe Shane would finish with a tap or even lay down like a dead fish for Brock to basically sit on his face. Brock got lucky – and he also got his ass handed to him in the first round by Shane’s “fists of furry” It’s amazing that Brock lasted that long. Whats even more amazing is he still won by tap out.

So what was the buzz after the main card? R-E-M-A-T-C-H That’s right - the folks I attended the fight with wanted a rematch. Many were upset and couldn’t believe their eyes but it’s all about the Win and Brock took the “W” with an honorable bloody smile. Shane Carwin came out smashing faces in the first round. Brock, by all means, was mostly defenseless and Shane landed about 100 fist smashers on Brocks head. Most of them, if not all weren’t clean punches but they still drew blood and they still held Brock to the floor.

I haven’t seen fear in Brock Lesnar’s eyes – EVER! But then a man named Shane Carwin came along and he did indeed humble Brock, not by words, or by the means of media but with his white knuckles. I’m sure Brock will have nightmares in the coming days of the Brock Lesnar Vs. Shane Carwin Ultimate Fighting Championship Rematch.

Dear, Dana please bring Brock/Carwin 2 back to the UFC – And bring it back soon!

We all are aware of the main cards for UFC 104, and 105 but I’m going to cut to the chase. Mashida favored for 104 & hoping for Couture to pull a “W” for 105 — But let’s get real — I think everyone is stoked for UFC 106…

After Brock Lesnar’s act with Frank Mir it is apparent that there are a handful of MMA fans that would enjoy somebody humble the BIG OAF. With little class and tact, the former wrestler/entertainer from the WWE failed to display sportsmanlike conduct towards Frank Mir. Although the drama Big Brock brought to the octagon, he is a spectacular athlete. The only work he needs (at least in my opinion) is a big hefty spoonful of “shut-Juice” So who will bring him his dose of “shut-up”??? I think we all know who will be the man to humble Brock Lesnar….

The man to submit the Big OAF will be Shane Carwin. The man has class, he has a good home and good ol fashioned parents to seemed to groom their boys into hard working, persevering men. Tough and rugged Shane will bring the class, conduct and sportsmanship that the UFCis all about. There is no such thing as an “entourage” with Shane. His drive and work ethic in and out of the cage speak volumes of his integrity and heart. Spoiled Brock needs some tough love that will come from big brother Shane Carwin.

I think many MMA fans are holding back in anticipation for UFC 106. It will be bittersweet to see Carwin serve Lesnar what he needs most… A big glass of “shut-up juice” and some “humble pie”

Let’s get it on!

LAS VEGAS — Younger, bigger, stronger, faster. Brock Lesnar ran the table at UFC 91.

The 6-foot-3, 275-pounder left 45-year-old Randy (The Natural) Couture crumpled in his wake late Saturday night in front of a near sellout of 14,272 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. The UFC heavyweight champion gave it his all before giving up his title via second-round TKO to Lesnar (3-1).

Lesnar, 31, won the heavyweight crown in his fourth mixed martial arts fight. Couture did the same thing 11 years ago when he beat Maurice Smith but mixed martial arts was in its infancy then.

Most fighters are nowhere near the UFC after four fights, but Lesnar is different, an imposing physical specimen with a background that includes an NCAA wrestling title and time in the WWE.

“Brock is an amazing athlete and such a big guy,” UFC president Dana White said. “So far he’s gotten by on athleticism and size. As he continues to grow as a fighter and gets more technical, God knows what this guy’s going to do.”

The fight ended when Lesnar caught Couture (16-9) with a right hand behind the ear. A stunned Couture went down — “Next thing I know I was on the ground, eating leather” — and Lesnar pounced, delivering more than two dozen hammer-fists and punches until referee Mario Yamasaki stepped in three minutes seven seconds into the round.

Yamasaki would have done Couture a favour by stopping it earlier, though Couture seemed fine after the fight other than some facial lumps and abrasions.

‘WHY WOULD HE STOP?’

“The rules of engagement are that you punch a guy in the head,” Couture said. “Until the referee steps in and stops the fight, why would he stop punching me in the head?”

Couture, at 6-2 and 220 pounds, was giving up 14 years, at least 50 pounds and six inches in reach. He also hadn’t fought for 15 months.

The fight may have signalled the latest changing of the MMA guard.

Former light-heavyweight champion Chuck (The Iceman) Liddell, Couture’s onetime nemesis, is 38 and has lost three of his last four fights. Couture was beaten coming out of his second retirement.

Today’s champions are younger and essentially learned mixed martial arts as a whole rather than coming out of one discipline.

Montreal’s Georges St. Pierre (welterweight champion) is 27, B.J. Penn (lightweight) 29 and Anderson Silva (middleweight) 33.

“Brock is a great indication of where the heavyweight division is going,” Couture said. “We’re getting these guys that aren’t just big guys. They’re very good athletes.”

The big man was cut by the right eye in the second as Couture caught him as they separated from a clinch.

“Right away, it made me a little nervous,” he said of the cut. “But then it pissed me off. I wanted to get first blood on Randy. Any time you fight, you want to get first blood. Something in my head just went ‘All right, we’ve got to pick this up.’ And that’s what I did.”

There was almost an element of good versus evil in the buildup to the fight with fans wildly cheering any glimpse of Couture while booing Lesnar.

“Over the next however long Brock commands the heavyweight division, I’m sure people will start to take to him,” White said. “If you don’t like him, eventually you’ll have to respect him.”

Lesnar will meet the winner of a December fight between Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Frank Mir. His preferred opponent is Mir, a former heavyweight champion who submitted him in his UFC debut in February.

Lesnar got emotional at the post-fight news conference when asked what winning meant to him.

“My first NCAA title meant a lot to me, but this, I never expected this in my wildest dream. I don’t know even what to say.”

In the co-main event, lightweight Kenny Florian choked out Joe (Daddy) Stevenson in the first round.

Canadian lightweight Mark Bocek (6-2) scored a third-round submission win over Alvin (Kid) Robinson. http://www.winnipegsun.com/Sports/OtherSports/2008/11/17/7435566-sun.html

Spike TV announced that the UFC Interim Heavyweight Champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and former champion Frank Mir will be the coaches for the eighth season of The Ultimate Fighter. The season, which premiers on Spike TV will return to the two-weight class format. It features light heavyweight and lightweight fighters. Production on season eight begins in late May, with the entire cast to be announced in September.

Nogueira and Mir, after serving as coaches, will meet at UFC 92 for Nogueira’s UFC Interim Heavyweight Championship. The fight will take place December 27th in Las Vegas, Mir’s home town.

Frank Mir (Left) Vs. Brock Lesnar

Mir met UFC matchmaker Joe Silva at a school Silva was visiting. Silva saw potential in Mir as a future UFC fighter and suggested that he first prove himself against some fighters in the mixed martial arts community. Mir would make his professional MMA debut against Jerome Smith at HOOKnSHOOT: Showdown on July 14, 2001. Mir won the bout by judges’ decision after two rounds. He won another match by submission at IFC Warriors Challenge 15. After these events, Silva proposed a match up between Mir and Roberto Travern, a new UFC fighter; Mir accepted the offer.

Mir defeated Roberto Travern by armbar at 1:05 of round one at UFC 34: High Voltage on November 2, 2001. The submission earned Mir the “Tapout of the Night” award.

He faced Ian Freeman, at UFC 38: Brawl at the Hall, held in London, England on July 13, 2002. Despite several leglock attempts by Mir, Freeman achieved side control at around four minutes into the first round, landing numerous elbows and punches on Mir’s head. After Freeman separated, the referee signaled an exhausted Mir to stand back up. A time out was called due to an apparent cut on Mir’s face, and the referee stopped the fight when a wobbly Mir had difficulty standing up.

On June 26, 2003 Mir fought Wes Sims at UFC 43: Meltdown. Mir won by disqualification at 2:55 of round one after Sims stomped down on Mir’s face after slamming his way out of Mir’s armbar attempt. They would rematch at UFC 46: Supernatural on January 31, 2004. Frank Mir won by knockout at 4:21 of round two.
