Miguel Torres
Heavy.com is reporting that former WEC champion Miguel Torres will make his UFC debut at UFC 126 in February against Antonio Banuelos. Both men are coming to the UFC in the coming merger between the world’s largest MMA promotion and it’s “little brother” promotion, the WEC. UFC 126 is to be main evented by a middleweight title fight between Vitor Belfort and long-time champion Anderson Silva.
Torres recently rebounded from back-to-back losses with a dominant win over Charlie Valencia. Prior to that he had lost his title to Brian Bowles and then lost the follow-up fight to Joseph Benavidez. Similarly, Banuelos recently reversed his fortunes as he followed up a loss to Scott Jorgensen with a win over Chad George on the same WEC 51 card where Torres found himself back on the winning track.
Both men are known as action fighters and both are more than capable of delivering fight of the night type stuff every time they enter the cage. This fight is a perfect example of how the UFC will use the lighter weight fighters to flesh out their cards. This card is filled with UFC stars but also will benefit from the excitement of the WEC fighters. The days of seeing bad fights between fledgling low-tier fighters make broadcasts are likely a thing of the past.
Careful: Miguel Torres is voted one of the top ten pound for pound MMA fighters. I welcome the former WEC Fighter and hope he does well.

Marquardt sports an 8-2 record in UFC matches, and an overall MMA record of 32-8-2. His most recent fight came at UFC 102 back in August, in which he defeated Demian Maia by knock out just 21 seconds into the fight. His only two UFC losses came against Thales Leites and Anderson Silva.
The 6′ 0″ 185 pound fighter has a very powerful and impressive ground game. This gives him an advantage over Sonnen in this match up, should the bout get to the ground. Marquardt is a very solid ground fighter from on his back and could submit Sonnen.
Marquardt is a three-time Champion of the middleweight division in the Pancrase Champion, and possesses a black belt in Jiu-Jitsu. Nearly half of his MMA wins have come by submission.
On the other side of the ring, Sonnen was a former college National Champion wrestler, All-American, and was even an alternate on the United States Olympic wrestling team. Despite his impressive wrestling credentials, Sonnen would would still be better served keeping the fight from the ground as long as possible. Marquadt would nullify any attempt that Sonnen tries to submit.
Sonnen has the advantage in striking, and would hold the upper hand in the fight if he is able to execute a game plan that keeps the fight to a striking battle. His last few losses have come by way of submission, and Sonnen will be weary of that. Sonnen won his last outing against Yushin Okami.
Both of these fighters are nearing a title shot against current holder Anderson Silva and a win will move them one step closer.
This middleweight clash on paper seems to be relatively even, but sports books such as Bodog are favoring Marquadt heavily. Currently, Marquadt is installed as a -525 favorite to defeat Sonnen according to the MMA Betting lines at Bodog sports book. Sonnen assumes the underdog role, and is currently set at +325 in this match up.
The fight can be seen live on Saturday, February 6th from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Ls Vegas. It. will be broadcast on Pay-Per-View.

Shane Carwin We all are aware of the main cards for UFC 104, and 105 but I’m going to cut to the chase. Mashida favored for 104 & hoping for Couture to pull a “W” for 105 — But let’s get real — I think everyone is stoked for UFC 106…
After Brock Lesnar’s act with Frank Mir it is apparent that there are a handful of MMA fans that would enjoy somebody humble the BIG OAF. With little class and tact, the former wrestler/entertainer from the WWE failed to display sportsmanlike conduct towards Frank Mir. Although the drama Big Brock brought to the octagon, he is a spectacular athlete. The only work he needs (at least in my opinion) is a big hefty spoonful of “shut-Juice” So who will bring him his dose of “shut-up”??? I think we all know who will be the man to humble Brock Lesnar….
The man to submit the Big OAF will be Shane Carwin. The man has class, he has a good home and good ol fashioned parents to seemed to groom their boys into hard working, persevering men. Tough and rugged Shane will bring the class, conduct and sportsmanship that the UFCis all about. There is no such thing as an “entourage” with Shane. His drive and work ethic in and out of the cage speak volumes of his integrity and heart. Spoiled Brock needs some tough love that will come from big brother Shane Carwin.
I think many MMA fans are holding back in anticipation for UFC 106. It will be bittersweet to see Carwin serve Lesnar what he needs most… A big glass of “shut-up juice” and some “humble pie”
Let’s get it on!

Headline Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida, a karate specialist, used his kicks to gain the advantage and then landed a series a punches that knocked Rashad Evans down three times in the second round to win the UFC light heavyweight championship at UFC 98 in Las Vegas.
The final blow was a devastating left hook that flattened Evans. His 205-pound body collapsed faster than the last few grains of a sand in a timer.
“I tried all my life to be a champion, and I’m very, very happy,” Machida said. “And now, I’m going to keep this belt for a long time. And to everyone, if you have a dream in your life, go ahead, it’s possible.”"
Machida’s unorthodox style kept Evans (18-1-1) at bay the entire fight. Machida (15-0) landed big left kicks in the first and second rounds, helping to keep Evans at bay. Machida connected on a left leg kick to the body, followed by a left hand that dropped Evans to the ground toward the end of the first round. Machida pounced on Evans and landed a few shots before the champion got back to his feet.
“A little dizzy,” Evans said when asked by Joe Rogan how he was feeling after the fight. “This is the first time ever being on the other side. You gotta take it how you give it, just smiling and knowing that every time you get a chance to come out here, you get a chance to prove yourself. So, maybe next time I’ll do better.”

UFC MMA Training Sneak Attack Tactics: The Devious Ploy
Since its inception, MMA has remarkably developed into a global spectacle. Nearly 9.6 million players have some how participated in the sport since the beginning.
Its popularity continues to proliferate thereby making it the third place overall “Most Popular Extreme Sport in the World” list. This is based on the statistical reports of the Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association International in 2005.
Along with its growing popularity are the various tactics that every player must learn in order to dominate the octagon. This is so important because, by nature, paintball is a conglomeration of strategy, techniques, skills, and ability to stimulate the mind to think fast and accurate.
In spite of the many tactics that the experts create in order to help fighters win, the sneak attack approach remains the most reliable method in obtaining victory over the opponents. This is because the object of the “sneak attack tactic” is to hit the opponent furtively and sneakily.
To those who want to know how this particular ploy can be executed, here is a list of some tips:
1. Be cool:
With this kind of tactic, your basic goal is to hit the other player without letting him know that you are even in the area. Once you have spotted your spot to thump, do not immediately reveal your notion; try to relax a little and make your opponent guess your next move.
2. Wait for the perfect timing:
The idea here is to wait for your opponent to come into your reach; because if you try to move without precision and reach, you might as well come out in the open and tell your opponent to ground pound you.
3. Fire at will:
If in case your opponent was able to sense your next move, do not hesitate to start throwin’ down. You will have better chance of aiming at and hitting your target because you were the first one to break the ice.
Sneak attack works best for people who think before they act. The bottom line of this approach is to aim more accurately in order to make your reach without letting the other person know what is coming.

Adam "Pacman" Jones,
Uncategorized Are you surprised? Dallas Cowboys players think they are Texas Rangers and can do what they want. Pacman, Irving, who else? The tradition of a Dallas Cowboy goofin’ up is carried through every year. I’m not saying I don’t like the Cowboys because I do but damn… Pick one… UFC or NFL
IRVING — Troubled Dallas Cowboys cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones was in a physical confrontation with his bodyguards at a Dallas hotel Tuesday evening, according to multiple sources.
Police were called to the scene, but no charge was filed, and neither the hotel nor the Cowboys would comment.
“I don’t have any comment,” said Jones’ agent, Worrick Robinson, who is based in Nashville. “I don’t have any knowledge that anything happened. I’ve done my due diligence and I’m not satisfied that anything happened with Adam Jones. I know there are rumors. I haven’t put any stock into any of these rumors except they are just rumors.”
Robinson said he did talk to Jones.
“I’m not going to comment on our conversation,” he said. “I don’t believe anything occurred.”
KTVT/Channel 11 first reported the story, and sources confirmed it to the Star-Telegram.
Any type of off-the-field news involving Jones is exactly what the Cowboys were trying to avoid when they recently told him to keep a low profile. On Wednesday, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, who suspended Jones for the entire 2007 season and then reinstated him in August, dropped by Valley Ranch for a visit.

Jones was attending a party at the Joule Hotel in Dallas on Tuesday evening, according to sources. Among the other patrons were several Cowboys players as well as rap star Ludacris and Academy Award-nominated actor Mark Wahlberg, who are both in the area filming a movie.
Adam Jones and his bodyguards got into a fight that resulted in a broken mirror in a bathroom, according to the sources. This was the second time in the past couple of weeks Jones and a bodyguard had gotten into a fight, a source said.
“We have no comment on the report,” NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said Wednesday night.
This is the latest in a long line of off-the-field incidents for Jones. He has been arrested six times and involved in a dozen incidents that required police involvement since 2005. Some of his offenses include possession of marijuana, speeding, public intoxication and disorderly conduct. By MAC ENGEL and CLARENCE E. HILL Jr. http://www.star-telegram.com/804/story/962464.html
Way to go “Pacman” Now you can join the UFC!
